Investing Incomes -- Make More Money To Invest

By : Richard Stooker    19 or more times read

To create streams of investing incomes, you've got to buy up income-producing investments.

That primarily stocks that pay dividends and bonds that pay interest. Even passbook savings accounts, certificates of deposit, and money market accounts return some money, though very little these days.

However, before you collect cash, you've got to trade some for the investment. That requires living below your means so your income exceeds your expenses. This article, however, is about increasing your income.

Don't Waste Time Reading Investment News

Lots of finance authors tell you to spend your free time reading THE WALL STREET JOURNAL, BARRON'S, MONEY MAGAZINE, and other investing books and publications. And to watch investing shows on TV. And to hang out at investing web sites online.

I think your time is better spent making more money with which to invest.

Better a Voluntary Part-Time Job At Mickey D's Now, Than a Necessary Full-Time Job There When You're 70

What you choose depends on a lot on what you do for a living now. If possible, the most obvious thing is to get a part time job. You may feel silly taking orders at McDonald's, but it's better to do it now, and invest your second paycheck, than have to have do it when you're seventy years old as some people are now doing. You'll feel even sillier -- not to mentioned tired, frustrated and disappointed with yourself and your life.

Tips are Better Than Minimum Wage

However, you'll make more money at a job where you're tipped: waiter or waitress, bartender or a delivery driver. People laugh about pizza delivery drivers, but they can make quite good money. If possible, deliver in the most affluent area you can.

Try a Part Time Sales Job

A part time sales job can pay well. I made good money in the late 1980s selling cable TV door to door evenings and weekends. Others do well in retail sales. And see if there are any telemarketing companies in your area are hiring. It's not a fun job, but the checks add up.

Jobs are tight right now, but entry-level, low pay jobs such as these still have a lot of turnover. Keep putting in applications, and sooner or later you'll apply right after some teenager walked off the job to go to a party.

Or Study to Become Over-Qualified for Your Day Job, So You Get Promoted or Can Get a Better Day Job

Consider using your spare time to advance your day job. Work any and all available overtime. Go back to college and get a degree or higher degree than you have now. Study for and pass certification tests. Advance your professional education. Go to Toastmasters to learn public speaking or take classes in Microsoft Office.

Or Work for Yourself

If possible, apply your day job skills to your own consulting clients on your own time (of course, don't compete against your employer or violate any regulations), in your local area or online.

You Can Make Money Online In Many Ways

The Internet is full of ways to make extra money. There's one website, fiverr.com, where you can offer to do small tasks for people for $5. If you do only twenty a week, that's an extra $100 you can invest with.

Devote a Website to a Passion or Interest You Share With Others

Have a hobby, passion or interest? Put up a website about it. Write articles about it, put on Google Adsense ads, sell products related to it, and keep adding content daily. Attract a community of others who share your passion. Do a good job and you may be able to quit your day job in a year or three. Others have.

Beware of Network Marketing

Be careful about work at home scams. And network marketing. To me, the business model of multilevel marketing doesn't make sense. I know that some people make a fortune at it, but they do so by offering the false promise of making a fortune to others.

You Sell Good Products as an Online Affiliate

It is possible to legitimately make good money in network marketing by selling high quality products to consumers -- but there are many high quality products you can sell to people for a profit without joining an MLM program.

Work Harder Than Most People Now, So in the Future You Can Afford to Relax More Than Most People

I realize that after you put in time on your day job, it's a lot easier to veg out in front of the TV. But if it some extra work is difficult now, how much harder will it be to keep on working after you hit 65?

Better to make as much money as you can now, while you're still able to work, so you can collect many streams of regular investing incomes to support you when you're older.
