Many people see acne and eczema as one of the unfortunate side-effects of being a teenager and growing up. But many people know that this is not just a problem that young people suffer from. Adults can also suffer from acne and eczema showing that this is not just a part of life that people have to put up with or something they will grow out of. It's a symptom of some underlying causes.

You can buy all the special creams and expensive products that you want but unless you are targeting the underlying causes then you are just covering up the symptoms and they will keep coming back over and over. This article will show you the way to tackle the fundamental problem as well as point you in the direction of some solutions you might not have considered before.

The biggest underlying cause of acne is the food that you eat. The most obvious thing is of course the amount of junk food that a lot of people eat. Fast food, processed food and soda drinks contain lots of bad fats and too much sugar. This causes many different kinds of internal health problems which have symptoms that show up on the skin as acne and eczema.

But it's not just junk food that causes acne and eczema. There are many other foods that mainstream opinion considers to be healthy which are in fact most probably a big factor behind your skin problems. Many people find that when they cut out all dairy and grain products that their skin becomes much healthier after a few weeks and soon is completely clear.

This is because human beings have only started consuming dairy and grain products in the last couple of thousand years and although we can tolerate them they aren't really good for us, despite what the huge dairy and grain industry would like you to believe.

Besides dairy and grain you should also try to eliminate or at least limit your consumption of sugar, caffeine and salt as the average diet contains too much of these ingredients.

In addition to the above changes to your diet you also need to make sure you drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated and to help your body flush out all the bad chemicals that enter your body. After all you can never completely stop harmful things from entering your body.

A cause of acne and eczema that is not often acknowledged is the psychological one. Mainstream science and medicine has proven that our immune systems do not work as effectively when we are under stress or are suffering from some kind of psychological trauma. Anecdotal evidence points to how people will often get an outbreak of acne when they are feeling particularly stressed. So it pays to reduce stress and anxiety in your life. One way to do this is by practicing relaxation methods such as the Mindful Relaxation Method.
