Picking the best washing machine is dependent on budget. For those that have a limited budget (as most of us do!) they will have to weigh up the pros and cons of certain styles, and their efficiencies.
The cheapest models are normally the top loaders, where a reasonable quality machine can start from around $250. The top loaders have the advantage of loading from the top. This can make it easier for people to load clothes into the machine and to get clothes out as well.
However, these cheaper top loaders are not the most efficient. They will use more electricity to run and so this will have an effect on both the environment and a persons wallet. Sometimes it can actually be cheaper if people take a longer term view and perhaps purchase a more expensive model, that will run more efficiently and so cost less in terms of power use.
If people have a slightly bigger budget they may wish to go for a more efficient front loading machine. Although, if they specifically like the idea, or style of a top loader, then more efficient top loading models are available in the market, but they cost a little more.
However overall, front loading machines are considered to be the most desirable because they can offer good efficiency, excellent washing quality and quiet operation.
Noise is sometimes something that people don't take into account, however it can have a significant effect, especially if the machine is kept close to a living room, or bedroom.
Finally people should pay attention to the brand of the washing machine they are going to buy. Unknown brands will often be cheap, sometimes very cheap. However, it's unlikely they will have the washing quality, or durability of a company like say LG, or whirlpool.
